Women’s Technology Park in Karnataka

A Womens Technology Park (WTP) has been set up in Aralaguppe village, Tiptur taluk of Tumkur district, which is about 130 km from Bangalore. Set up with a grant from the SEED division of the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India as well as from TIDE’s own funds and individual donations, TIDE aims to create enabling mechanisms that facilitate enterprises operated and managed by women of the taluk. Thus, the objectives of the WTP are:

  • To create awareness among women about livelihoods using environmentally benign technologies.
  • To build the capacities of women in technical skills as well as in microenterprise development, to enable them to launch into enterprises.
  • To facilitate enterprises by women by leasing the facilities in the WTP.
