Assessment growth expected to continue

Middleton has reduced residential and commercial taxes in its 2012/2013 budget while keeping the sewer rate and the industrial park rates the same.

The residential tax rate has been reduced from $1.80 to $1.78. The commercial tax rate has been cut from $4.30 to $4.26 and the special rate for the Middleton Industrial Park remains the same at $1.86. The sewer rate remains the same at $0.22

Council expects the assessment growth to continue in 2012 mostly in the residential area. The town has experienced new commercial growth in the past year with the addition of the new Nova Scotia Liquor Commission and the House of Glass Restaurant Gallery.
