JEFFERSON- Jefferson officials are hoping that the completion of an industrial park project at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Galilee Church road will make the area much more business friendly.

As of now, the acreage hosts Universal Forest Products and World Technology Ingredients, but they’re hoping the easier access granted by the extension of MLK will attract more business.  There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for this extension on July 4th. The project has been funded by grants by the Appalachian Regional Commission, as well as by local investors. Jefferson officials are also looking to boost  business by improving the quality of residential life. The city plans to instal sidewalks alongside MLK drive with the hope that people will be able to walk to work at the industrial park.
