Warren Avenue To Be Closed For 12 Months Beginning Monday, June 17, 2013
Fremont, CA – Beginning Monday, June 17, 2013, both directions of Warren Avenue in Fremont will be closed for 12 months to accommodate construction involving lowering the roadway, and three new bridges for BART, Union Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific
Railroad Maintenance.
Eastbound Mission Boulevard, between Interstate 880 and Warm Springs Boulevard, will also be closed June 7-8, 2013, from midnight to 5 a.m. (late Friday night/early Saturday morning). Eastbound Mission will be closed so work crews can safely move a construction crane from one side of the roadway to the other. Westbound Mission Boulevard will remain open. The primary traffic detour for this closure will be Warren Avenue to access northbound and southbound Interstate 880 ramps.
This project is a partnership between VTA, the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC), City of Fremont, Federal Highway Administration and Caltrans to ease congestion, enhance safety, prepare the corridor for BART Silicon Valley and improve local traffic circulation. Warren Avenue will be lowered beneath the existing railroad corridor. Three new bridges (BART, UPRR, maintenance) will be constructed over Warren Avenue.
