Asia-wide growth projections are generally being tamped down by analysts for 2013.  The Philippines might be an exception as it is one of the strongest performers in Asia (and globally) and the Aquino administration is being praised for a variety of anti-corruption and anti-red tape measures, a significant boost in education and infrastructure spending, and other initiatives that are clearly paying off for the economy. Reflecting approval of these policies, the Philippines’ credit rating was upgraded to investment status by Fitch and S&P earlier this year,

So far, the Philippines has experienced “stellar” growth in 2013, in the first quarter expanding 7.8% over the year earlier, making it the fastest growing economy in Asia. Increased domestic consumption, government spending and generally a better business climate are behind the growth, but there is a lot happening on the investment side.  For example, investments approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) jumped a staggering 90% in the first five months of the year.

This timely briefing with Undersecretary of Trade and Director General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Hon. Lilia de Lima is cosponsored by Cal-Asia, the Consulate General of the Philippines in SF and the Philippines Trade & Investment Center located in SF and Silicon Valley.

Meet with Undersecretary de Lima, Consul General Marciano Paynor, Philippines Trade & Investment Center Director Michael Ignacio and other experts.  Learn about the range of business opportunities that can be found in the 277 Philippine Economic Zones across the country, learn more about the startling growth in investment approvals, and why a PEZA strategy could be your gateway to ASEAN. Under de Lima’s stewardship, PEZA has helped the Philippines become a leading business destination
