Santa Cruz, Ca., October 1, 2012 –The Monterey Bay International Trade Association (MBITA) (www.mbita.org) and TradePort.org today announced a special event entitled Branding the Monterey Bay Region to the Global Marketplace to be held on Oct. 30th at the Cocoanut Grove in Santa Cruz, Ca.
Congressman Sam Farr will lead a discussion from a group of economic development organizations and small businesses located in the tri-county region of the Monterey Bay to discuss strategies and initiatives to develop a regional strategy to ‘brand’ the Monterey Bay to the global marketplace.
MBITA and TradePort.org have organized this event under the leadership of Congressman Farr to bring the entire Monterey Bay region together in a collaborative effort to ‘brand’ and promote the Monterey Bay region to the global marketplace so foreign tourists and businesspeople can also experience the region’s uniqueness, beauty and ‘cutting-edge’ industries in wine, specialty crops, sustainable agriculture, agrotechnology, marine biology, IT, clean-tech and languages, not to mention its world renowned educational institutions.
“There is something special about a region where it borders the technology center of the world to its north, and the ‘salad bowl of the world on its southern borders. Throw in the language capital of the world as well as one of the top marine biology centers and wine growing regions on the globe, combined with its cutting edge entrepreneurial efforts in clean-tech and IT, not to mention its unparalleled natural beauty, and you have the Monterey Bay region”, states Tony Livoti of MBITA.
The event is sponsored by University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) (www.ucsc.edu), the Monterey County Business Council (MCBC) (mcbc.mcbusiness.org), Joint Venture – Monterey Bay (JVMB) (www.jvmb.org), Pinpoint China (www.pinpointchina.com) and Umpqua Bank (www.umpquabank.com
The event is a follow up to The Monterey Bay – Global Destination for Wine and Tourism with Congressman Sam Farr that was held on April 12 in Monterey (http://www.mbita.org/events/samfarrluncheon2012.html).
