STOCKTON – Construction could begin this fall on a 140-acre industrial park in east Stockton that, when completed, could contain up to 2 million square feet of building space and generate 1,000 new jobs.

Blossom Industrial Park cleared a major hurdle this week, with the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors designating the land for general industrial use, from its previous mix of commercial, residential and light industrial zoning.

The park, northwest of the intersection of Newton and Cherokee roads, is already attracting attention from major companies, said Michael Hakeem, the Stockton attorney representing the Rajkovich family, which owns and is developing the property.

“We have some Fortune 500 users that are looking at this site,” he said. “It’s an exciting project; we’re proud of it”

It offers great transportation access, Hakeem added, with Highway 99 immediately to the east and Central California Traction Co. rail lines to the west.

“We’re the largest rail-served available property in San Joaquin County at 140 acres,” he said. “And it’s not only rail service, … but it’s the connection to the Port of Stockton’s M-580 Marine Highway.”
