Azerbaijan to create Sumgait High Technology Park
30 September 2012
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is likely to develop and produce high technologies.
At today’s meeting Deputy Industry & Energy Minister Natig Abbasov has informed that the Sumgait high-tech park being formed in the country will not only produce hi-tech output in the future, but will also develop high technologies.
The idea on creation of high technology park creation presented to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan at the opening of Azgüntex plant (Azerbaijani lighting) in Sumgait this May is under development.
Preparation of necessary documentation and document package required to make a decision on creation of Sumgait high technology park is under way.
It is planned to locate 15 plants in the park oriented for production for alternative energy and energy saving. Nomenclature of future production includes optic lenses, glass and basalt fiber, accumulators.
First of all it is planed to develop production line connected with development of LED technologies and inverters, batteries, connecting devices, monitoring equipment, etc. For that there are ready solutions and technologies for autonomous systems for lighting, traffic control (traffic lights on photo cells), consumer and industrial application. There are already preliminary applications for placement of a number of industries in the park which are to be brought into life as specific projects and investments. As a whole, the park development will take years.
Azerbaijan, in particular, will apply and develop ready solutions and technologies for autonomous systems for lighting, traffic management, household and industrial application.
Azgüntex has completed start-up work and started production in experimental regime at the plant on production of panels for solar batteries.
The plant is fully automated.
It already produces photo elements with 42 to 250 watt capacity which can be assembled in panels of 60 photo elements each. Production of LED lamps is still to be launched.
The plant is constructed within implementation of project “1.000 houses- 1.000 power stations”. At the first stage it will produce 120.000 solar batteries then 240.000 panels per year. It is also planned to produce 36 million LED chips and 12 million LED lamps.
