[GBP Note: Bishop Ranch business park in San Ramon, CA continues to provide value for their tenants by becoming the first business park in the U.S. to test driverless shuttle busses within their campus.]

EasyMile, a French company that provides shared driverless transportation, announced it has signed an exclusive collaborative agreement with GoMentum Station, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority’s Concord testing ground for autonomous vehicles.

[Click here for official press release]

Based on the collaboration, a pilot project is being launched in summer 2016 that will start by bringing two driverless shuttles to Bishop Ranch, the San Francisco Bay Area’s largest office park in San Ramon, for prototype testing.

The shuttles are designed to take passengers a short distance at low speeds and are meant to compliment already existing public transportation options.

Bishop Ranch, a 585-acre office park featuring big-name businesses such as AT&T, Chevron and General Electric, would become the country’s first place where the vehicles have been deployed, according to EasyMile.

Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang says the central province of Thanh Hoa should use its strength with its numerous industrial parks as the driver for strong economic growth

Thanh Hoa should optimise strength of industrial parks: President

Vietnam News Agency (VNA)

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2015 – 17:49:00

The central province of Thanh Hoa should use its strength with its numerous industrial parks, especially the national key economic zone of Nghi Son, as the driver for strong growth in the coming years, suggested President Truong Tan Sang at the province’s Party Congress on September 23.

Thanh Hoa should also speed up economic restructuring in association with renovating its growth models to enhance productivity and economic competitiveness while improving the investment environment to attract more domestic and foreign investment, he said.

The province should also boost the development of basic and hi-tech industries and encourage sectors employing labourers in rural and remote areas, asked the President.

In Thanh Hoa, which has all three terrains of coastal, delta and mountainous areas, President Truong Tan Sang said it is also necessary to accelerate the development of services, especially seaport, transport and storage, making the province strong in logistics and seaport in the region.

Asians Now Outnumber Whites In Silicon Valley – Article by Sharon Simonson of SiliconValleyOneWorld.com

Asians Now Outnumber Whites in Silicon Valley

April 20, 2015

SV1World

By Sharon Simonson

Asians and Pacific Islanders now form the largest racial block in Santa Clara County, exceeding the proportion of non-Hispanic white residents for the first time.

According to new demographic findings from the Population Dynamics Research Group at the University of Southern California, in the next 25 years, Silicon Valley’s Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino and other Asian populations plus a smattering of Pacific Islanders are expected to grow to more than 43 percent of the county total. That is approximately 30 percentage points higher than Asians’ projected proportion nationally.

In the same 25 years, the share of non-Hispanic whites in Silicon Valley is expected to fall to less than 25 percent, down from 33 percent today and 70.5 percent in 1980. The share of Hispanics is predicted to remain largely unchanged at about a quarter of the valley’s total.

Inefficient industrial parks in Vietnam with low occupancy rates will be scaled down or even closed

Inefficient industrial parks to be shuttered: Vietnam deputy premier

TUOI TRE NEWS

UPDATED : 03/23/2015 19:30 GMT + 7

Inefficient industrial parks with low occupancy rates will be scaled down or even closed to make room for other socio-economic development plans, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has announced.

The deputy premier also asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant state agencies nationwide at a meeting on Thursday last week to review the current situation regarding industrial parks and their development so that the plan to scale down inefficient ones can be implemented, according to the Office of the Government.

As reported by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam had a total of 295 industrial parks that covered over 84,000 hectares of land in 2014.

However, the report by the ministry also showed that many industrial parks have no investors, or very few, so local authorities are considering reducing their areas or handing them over to new investors.

Some parks have had their investment certificates revoked, such as Ba Thien Industrial Park in the northern province of Vinh Phuc and Cam Ranh Industrial Park in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.

Three Harbor Bay Business Park businesses have added, or been approved to add, space in recent weeks, totaling and additional 180,000 additional square feet of commercial space.

In November the City of Alameda Planning Board approved VF Outdoor’splans to build a new 55,288 square foot “Innovation, Warranty, and Digital Lab” building at their existing corporate campus at 2701 Harbor Bay Parkway. Construction of the new building is expected to be complete in early 2016.
